Faculty Showcase
河川塑造了峽谷、堆積了三角洲,形成了瀑布。河流向源侵蝕,就如老師總會向前輩學習、向大師致敬;她也會向側與向下侵蝕,讓自己變得更寬更深,意味著導師在創作上讓自己往更深更宏觀處推進。河流裡的石頭也會在流水的流動下從稜角轉化成圓潤的鵝卵石,學生或許像是河流裡的石頭,而老師就是河川,磨練著我們也不忘記磨練著自己。我們在名為創作的河床上,相互砥礪。
Onfoto Studio 成立至今已兩年有餘,目前共有三十門固定開課課程,包括基礎至進階攝影概念、黑白暗房、古典顯影、數位色彩管理,以及每季特別專題課程。此次展覽展出五位導師正在進行中的創作作品共計十二件,展示各自的創作方式與個人攝影風格。我們期許自己能持續創作,並透過教學提供攝影創作者完整的攝影養成與學習。 Rivers formulate canyon, delta, as well as waterfalls. Instructors are like rivers, paying tribute to revered masters, meanwhile broaden ourselves inwardly. Students are like rocks to be polished and transformed by the river into pebbles. We tempered each other in the riverbed named creation. Onfoto was founded in 2014, and presently we offer thirty regular courses, including basic to advanced concept classes, black and white darkroom, historical processes, digital darkroom, and seasonal workshops. This exhibition showcases the ongoing photographic series of our five instructors. We urge ourselves to keep photographing and consistently offer students more refined lectures. |

《AMBIGUITY》
就像月亮無法決定自己的明亮程度一樣,我們不停尋找只為我一人而點亮的微光;就像我們無法用肉眼看見自己的臉龐一樣,試著在飄浮的碎屑裡尋回被抖落的過去。
我在光裡等待、在陰影中蒸發;當世界上只剩下我與屬於我的光芒,而我能擁有的卻是比沈默更深的黑。
Prospecting in the darkness and evaporating in the deep shade, everything goes into silence. The light glimmered distantly seems closely at present.
The moon, waxing and waning, broken into fragment.

《光合作用 PHOTOSYNTHESIS》
對光的探尋一直是我攝影創作的核心。光合作用賦予自然生命;而攝影之能採光塑形、賦予作品新序與生命力,是創作者自身歷經光合作用的結果。自然的詩性則是我參與光合作用一系列化學昇華所產生的質地。
Light is my adventure.
These photographs are part of a black and white series exploring the life of forms. They are discoveries revealed by configurations of light as it describes, shapes, and ultimately transforms. They are provoked by the camera’s willing dialogue with the ebb and flow of nature's narrative.

“AMPHITRITE”
「安靜地越過一座緩坡,沒有邊際的大地,深邃的藍。往天空看,那遙遠的一處,是家、是深邃的藍。」
獨自旅行著,計畫著變化,似有目的的誕生,途經了迷失、覺悟,再迷失,就像日月循環,也似這無邊無際。所以學習去感受與理解每一吋、每一哩,所有的所有,踏實的踩出每一步,努力著不讓自己跌倒。仔細卻又不假思索的尋找,而尋找的不是旅途的終點,是此時此刻、自我和這未知的星球。
"Crossing this gentle slope quietly, and the endless land is deep blue. Looking into the sky, and there is a place far far away. That is home, and home is deep blue."
Traveling alone, and making plans for every change. Born, might have a purpose. We lost, we realized and we lost again. It is a cycle like the sun and moon, and it is also endless. Therefore, we learn how to feel and understand every inches, miles and all of it. Step to step, try not to fall down. Searching without thinking, but carefully. The end of the journey is not what we seek for, but this moment: the self and the unknown planet.

《宅顏 HOUSE》
因為工作的關係,在台灣與美國兩地拍攝過不少的房子,在一次偶然中,發現大部分的房子外觀都藏有一張“臉”,其實房子就跟人一樣,世界上很難找到完全一模一樣的房子,就如同人一樣,有自己的特色與樣貌。只要我們仔細觀察,再加上一些想像力,每個人都能發現許多有趣的臉藏在我們的房子裡,也因為每個人成長背景不同,所看到的形象也會有所差異,但這就是人與房子的獨特性交互所產生出的影像。
I have photographed a lot of houses in both United States and Taiwan because of my job. One day, I found out that there is a hidden face in each every one of the them waiting to be discovered…..just like us. If we take a closer look with some imagination, we are able to uncover the unique character among them. Interestingly, the faces of the houses can be shown differently as we all have our own ways of observation and fantasy because of the background we grew up with.

《非理性抽象 IRRATIONAL ABSTRACTION》
這一個新的系列是我目前在探索中的色彩實驗,希望能在空間中捕捉光線與色彩的律動,靈感來自於Georges Seurat的點彩畫作,利用單純的四原色色點作畫,色點堆砌於畫布上並去除掉了細節,使觀者更能專注於畫作本身想傳達的情感與印象。我選擇以拍攝建築物這樣充滿物質與結構的理性空間,透過攝影轉換成另一種感官上的視覺體驗,利用高感度的彩色底片來代替傳統的畫筆,強調出如同繪畫般的顆粒感,以攝影作為媒介當作結合繪畫與尋常世界的橋樑。
This new series is an attempt of color experiment, I try to capture light movements and color pigments in the existing space. Inspired from Georges Seurat’s pointillism painting, in which only using the four-color CMYK small dots applied to the canvas. Pulling away from detail to focus on an emotional response to reality. I choose to photograph architect, transfer this practice of materials and constructions into a more sensational viewing experience. By using high ISO color film instead of traditional brushwork, to emphasize the grainy spectrum like pointillism painting. Photography as medium is a perfect bridge between painting and ordinary world.
